Matt Hartvikson Trophy
The Matt
Hartvikson Trophy is an annual award given to the defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest
all-around ability in the position. The winner is selected in a poll of the Grotte Hockey League Players' Association
at the end of the regular season.
The Matt Hartvikson Trophy was presented in 2007 by the GHL in commemoration of the
Bemidji Hockey League's Matt Hartvikson, who used to live in Thompson, ND, and is a superior defenseman.

Zach Myron was both a goalie's worst nightmare and a goalie's dream depending on which's goalie's team he
was on. As an offensive minded defensmen, he surmounted an awesome +/- (+9) while scoring 66 goals in only 60
games and adding 24 assists to secure a #4 spot in the GHL Rankings. How he was so effective at both side of the rink
is utterly amazing. The 20 year old won the award last year, and he defends the award by edging out Jason Grotte this
year. There was talk that Zach could have won MVP if he would have made it to more of the last month of hockey, but
a job extremely well done.

2007 Winner
Zach Myron didn't even play half the 2007 season. He was too busy playing Tommie basketball, however;
his appearances that he did make were so impressive, that the GHLPA voted him top defenseman in the GHL by an overwhelming
percentage. He received 14 out of 25 votes to capture the trophy. Voters argued that he was the best in the
business, and he proved it in his play in the 06-07 GHL season.
