The
Tuffy Trophy
The Tuify Trophy is an annual award given to the Grotte Hockey League
player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance and dedication to hockey. The winner is selected in a poll by the
GHLPA.
The Tuffy Trophy was presented by the GHL Player's Association in 2007 in memory of
the late Tuffy Grotte, a dog of the Grottes, who exhibited, to a high degree, the qualities of perseverance and
dedication to the Grotte's. Tuffy died in 2007.
Jason Grotte, for the second year in a row has won this prestigious trophy, and for good reasons.
Jason Grotte was the only player to play every game this season (93) and ended the season 2nd in games won
and goals scored. He was also 3rd overall in the GHL rankings. Not only did he play every game though, he
played every game with a kind of heart and intensity that coaches dream of finding in a talented player. Jason also
mixed it up with other players to keep his physical edge. Winning this award back to back places Jason even higher among
GHL Legends and shows that he will most likely always be a threat in the GHL.
