Kelly Grotte was the guy you wanted on your team if you wanted to win for both the 05-06 and 06-07 GHL seasons.  He was so effective because of his ability to chip at the puck until it went into the net.  He was a force in the trenches and a factor on D.  Here's a comment from the GHL Talk describing the man we know as KG:
Noa Wiseguy

Re: KG as MVP in 08

a definitive career has made KG a super star and icon for all ages both old and young, like a shining beacon, a light house, a corner stone, an immortal, KG has found a special place in the GHL hall of fame and in the hearts of all of those who still believe in the hockey dream; a simple man turned hero, kind of like spider man. Yes, this man reminds me of another great hero by the name of Rockey Balboa, a true fighter, someone who has that edge, the eye of the tiger, the will to survive in an unforgiving league. YES AND I SAY TO YOU someone that defies the odds again and again and is the soul of honesty, character, and self discipline, one who believes that a game played unfair and won is a battle lost. I think we can all say that to know him is to love him, and to love him is to know him.......so number 99, may you have smooth sailing on the sea of life.
