To make an understatement, it was an eventful and exciting night of hockey. Kelly, Jason Grotte, first
time GHL player Jason Nass, Andy Nass, Jamyn, and goalie Ty Myron took on Wayne, Nich, Andrew, Collin and Brent
with Zach Riveland in goal. Let's assign a name to each of these teams so I don't have to refer to the teams by, "his team."
Ok. Wayne's team will be called the Shnerts and Kelly's team will be called the Shmucks, although tonight it would have been
appropiate to refer to "Kelly's team", considering his MVP performance. In the first game, the Schmucks were led by Kelly
Grotte who scored all 4 goals for his team in an eventual loss to the Shnerts 5-4. The Shnerts scoring was spread among
three players. Nich Riveland scored first. Andrew added the second and third goals, and Wayne turned on his game to score
the final 2 goals for the Shnerts giving them the close victory. Brent Larson couldn't put the puck in the net the first
game or he might have been part of the scoring, but after the first game, he must have made an adjustment, because he exploded
with 3 goals for the Shnerts. Collin added a goal, as did Andrew Grotte. Nich was only involved in assists.
The Shmucks were co-lead by Kelly Grotte and Jason Grotte, each scoring 2 goals in yet another 5-4 heartbreaking loss. The
Shnerts were now up 2-0 in the series but Commissioner Kelly Grotte wanted to make the 3rd game meaningful, so both teams
agreed that the winner of the 3rd game was also winner of the series. The 3rd game looked early to be a complete blowout
as the Shmucks took a 4-1 lead with goals from Jason Nass, who scored his first GHL goal, and you guessed it..Kelly Grotte
(3). The lone goal for the Shnerts was scored by Andrew. After the Shmucks scored the 4th goal, Nich Riveland
decided it was time for a timeout. "I just wanted us to have a chance to regroup and make a game out of it."
The Shnerts responded, particularly, Brent Larson who converted the 4-1 deficit into a 4-4 tie with 3 hard earned goals.
But, in the end, the Shmucks were bound to break their drought, and they did with another debut goal from Jason Nass, who
got a shot off from the blue line to put the puck 5 hole on Zach Riveland. The Shmucks felt relieved to get the 5-4
win.

The MVP of the series goes to Kelly Grotte who racked
up 9 goals and ultimately kept his team in competition. Kelly grinded around the net and created a lot of second, third,
and even fourth chances off rebounds. He took advantage of the rebounds and found the net more often than Randy Moss says
stupid things. Kelly replied of his performance, "WelI, I feel it's not the individual, but the team who created
the chances. They really put me in a position to score out there, and the net just seemed to be bigger tonight."
In his GHL debut, Nass was scoreles in games one and two, but would come through in a
big way in game 3, starting the scoring for the Shmucks, and ending it with a game winner. Jason looks to have a promising
GHL career.
