2007-2008 Editor's Award Synopsis
Poll Participation Problems
The GHLPA's number of votes were slightly down from the 06-07 GHL season, which doesn't make sense since the league was
about twice as large this year.
There was not much talk in the polls. Has the GHLPA lost interest? A possible explanation is that they've
talked all they can on GHL Talk and they're all talked out.
MVP: Why not Brent Larson?
Brent Larson should have received more votes for MVP if not win MVP. He led in several important categories, the
categories that count for MVP:
Brente+/-: +16 Does anyone realize how good this stat is? Winning 16 more games then you lose, getting the
most wins in the league (44) which was aproximately 61% of his games. He scored the most goals. He was the power point
leader, 2nd in points, 2nd in assists,and 3rd in Star points. On top of all this he led in MVPoints. This guy had
a say in everything and now he gets nothing as far as MVP goes? It's not right. The GHLPA needs to open their
eyes as far as Brent Larson goes. Brent was not awarded last year in the polls either. Brent did win 2 awards,
but they were awards decided by the GHL Board of Governors.
Competitive?
The polls were very close this year. There were a total of three ties, indicating that the GHL was very competitive
this year.
Collin Grotte
Congratulations to Collin Grotte, the youngest GHL player EVER to receive an award.
Award Quenchers
Nich Riveland and Andrew Grotte finally win their first awards ever after a two year drought.
Most Impoved Goalie
MIG: Zach Riveland wins the award for the 3rd year in a row, first time in GHL
Overall
Everybody who won deserved to win, the polls I thought were very telling, except MVP could have been either
away, but great Award Polls overall.
