The season ended on a beautiful saturday with decent ice conditions,
considering the time of year. Uncharacteristic of the 09 Travis Peach, he was not in attendence. The Sjobergs,
however, came to town and contributed a few points as the series went 5 games long to end the year. The GHL "top
three" all had good games and it should be a very tight point race as the season totals are calculated.
The last two GHL seasons have ended on the 10th of March. This season
will shut down three days before that mark, the 7th of March. "It was another good year. We had a tough time trying
to get all our games in due to the uncooperating weather but I think we did well to get the 19 series and 56
GHL games that we did. The 08 season held 26 series and 93 games but, with 7 less series and 37 less games, the
GHL season was still very successful and dramatic, especially towards the end. The GHL saw outbreak years from
Jason Grotte and Jake Martin, both attending almost every series. It also saw Brent Larson fly high along with a solid
year off of winning MVP for Nich Riveland. I remained healthy and able to contribute to each game which was fortunate
and wonderful. We saw rookies John Ryan and David Swatlowski have huge years, and rapid development of Cameron Swenson.
Collin continues to narrow the gap between his opponents and had his best statistical season. The Goaltenders were brilliant
this year, and Travis Peach remained fairly consistent in attendence, which was a major contrast from last year. Ryan
Hoff shined when he showed and Zach Riveland was his usual steady self. Myron was good, too, but showed a major drop
in appearances from last year. All in all, I was very pleased with the league this year: the rink, the players, the
development, the publicity...I think we got everything still going for us, and I can't wait for next year," Kelly Grotte said
with a smiling sigh.
The GHL will look to have an ALL STAR GAME in April sometime
Award Polls should also be out in April.
The GHL Farm Team made it to the championship, losing 5-1 at the Ralph Engelstad Arena to the ARMY.
The 4th and 5th games were not recorded, so the scores and winners of the games are known, but the
statistic specifics are not.
